The summer before my son entered kindergarten, he began working with the Learning First team. I wanted him to feel extra confident in math and reading when kindergarten started.
Thanks to the Learning First team, he did! Every week, he looks forward to his session. He thinks the learning process is so much fun! His kindergarten teacher asked me what I was doing to help him. The teacher was so impressed with my son. I told her my son’s reading success was because of Learning First! I’m so grateful!

We love hearing from our students! One of our favorite parts of what we do is seeing how much our students enjoy learning – and this note melted our hearts.
A student recently wrote a story at school about working with Marissa, and it’s too sweet not to share:
“One day, Marissa came to my house. Then we read a book together. Then we play with dice to tap our words.”
Moments like these remind us why we do what we do!
“3 levels is quite the progress though! I am very proud of her!” – This is a text we received from a teacher who had done an assessment on one of the students we work with and saw immense growth in reading fluency and comprehension.
To get this student where they are now, we assessed her when we first started working together and made a plan that best fit her needs!
This kindergartner has consistently been working with us since the summer before he began pre-school. He started with us, not knowing his letter sounds/how to read or do any math, as he did not truly know the value of each number.
By working with our team consistently and continuing with our team, he is on track for success throughout his time as a student and well beyond those years.
This neurodivergent student has been focusing on improving writing skills for assessments and various assignments. Since starting with us, he has gained confidence in independently structuring his writing, mastering mechanics, and expanding his thoughts with relevant details.
